How to Clean & Care for Your DuraVie Body Cover

How to Clean & Care for Your DuraVie Body Cover

Caring for your DuraVie Body Cover is simple and designed to align with professional infection control practices across esthetics, nail services, and dental settings. DuraVie is a reusable, non-porous silicone barrier intended to replace disposable bibs, towels and surface covers while supporting proper cleaning, disinfection, and reuse.

Cleaning protocols vary depending on the level of exposure during the service. Always follow applicable workplace regulations and disinfectant manufacturer instructions.

Routine Cleaning

Low-Risk Services | No Blood or Broken Skin. For services without blood exposure or compromised skin, such as nail services, body treatments, or general surface protection.

  1. Wash the cover with warm water and a mild detergent using a soft cloth or sponge.
  2. Rinse thoroughly to remove all residue.
  3. Allow the cover to air dry completely before reuse or storage.
  4. Appropriate for nail services, body treatments, and general use without wax or blood exposure.

Product Residue Removal & Intermediate Cleaning

Low-Risk Services | No Bloodborne Pathogens. For services involving nail polish, oils, lotions, or cosmetic residue without blood exposure.

  1. After the service, wipe the surface to remove visible debris.
  2. Nail polish residue may be removed using isopropyl alcohol.
  3. After residue removal, wipe the surface with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol if desired.
  4. Allow the cover to air dry completely before reuse.
  5. Alcohol-based cleaning is appropriate only when there is no blood or broken skin involved.

Medical-Grade Disinfection

Higher-Risk Services | Possible Blood or Body Fluid Exposure. For services where incidental contact with blood, saliva, or other potentially infectious materials may occur, including dental procedures and certain waxing services.

  1. Remove visible debris from the surface by wiping.
  2. Wax residue may be removed using an oil-based wax remover.
  3. Apply an EPA-registered, medical-grade disinfectant according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Ensure the required contact time is met.
  5. Use appropriate gloves and personal protective equipment during cleaning.
  6. Allow the cover to air dry fully before reuse.

** This level of disinfection aligns with CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Settings (2003) for environmental surfaces and noncritical patient-care items.

Reuse & Storage

  1. Once fully dry, the cover may be returned to service or stored in a clean, dry area.
  2. Repeated professional testing has demonstrated that DuraVie maintains surface performance, durability, and cleanability after repeated disinfection cycles when used as directed.
